Back in shape… Ooops
3. 3. 2016Good news: I’m getting back into shape and my coach is finally satisfied with my accomplishment on the last kilometer. To reward myself I take my husband for a trip to Switzerland. Conditions couldn’t be better. We’re mastering our technique on an icefall. Then, within a second, our fortune takes a twist… that is, my leg does. Upon descent it suffered a harsher impact than it deserved. Now I’m back in Prague with brand new Nordic poles… except that they alarmingly resemble a pair of crutches.
Apparently I’ve had it too easy so far, right? Anyway. One way or another, I don’t have any options to choose from and I’m commencing my next training phase together with new aluminum friends. (Looking back, it seems I’m doomed to hit roadblocks over and over again. Prior to my Aconcagua expedition I had rewarded myself with an Austrian immobilizer: a day on the ski-slope ended up with a ligament injury. In the end I made it, though, and made my orthopedist proud of me. That was back in 2005.) Is the cliché “What doesn’t kill you…” haunting me again?
